Chris Christie, Republican Governor of New Jersey, went ballistic over the House not passing the Senate's $60 billion Sandy relief package.
"There's only one group to blame for the continued suffering" of Sandy victims, and that's Boehner and the House Republican leadership, Christie told reporters. “Shame on on you. Shame on Congress.”
Republican New York Rep. Peter King called the failure to bring a bill forward "a knife in the back." Chris Christie, not to be outdone, laid into Republican House Speaker John Boehner:
Christie said he "called the speaker four times last night, and he didn’t take my calls...."
"Every day that we don’t begin to get this aid are days that we can’t get people back in their homes, get businesses reopened. ... It’s absolutely disgraceful,” Christie said.
Chris Christie is one of the most interesting political figures to watch going forward. He is a Republican who is extremely popular in his own state, and appreciated by many Democrats. That combo could be enough to make him our next president, but to do that, Christie is going to have to win over Republicans, something he seems actively unconcerned with at the moment.
