It finally happened.
Donald J. Trump, the man who proposed banning Muslims from entering the country and bragged about molesting women, was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.
Compared to his predecessor Barack Obama’s first inaugural ceremony, the billionaire mogul’s inauguration was somewhat of a dull affair. In fact, there were more people at the anti-Trump women’s march than there were at the actual event.
However, the Trump administration seems to be in denial about the whole situation. White House press secretary Sean Spicer even accused media of reporting inaccurate crowd numbers “to minimize the enormous support.” Later, top Trump aide Kellyanne Conway tried to redefine Spicer’s false claims as “alternative facts.”
Like the rest of the nation, Fox News host Chris Wallace seemingly ran out of patience and decided to confront the president’s chief-of-staff, Reince Priebus, over Trump and his team’s obsession with the crowd count.
“President Trump said in his inaugural address that every decision he makes will be to benefit American families,” Wallace asked. “How does arguing about crowd size do that?”
Priebus responded by saying the debate about crowd size is not actually about crowd size.
“It’s really not about crowd size. What it’s about is honesty in the media,” he said. “What it’s about is on day one after winning this election and President Trump talking about bringing America together… however, the media from day one has been talking about delegitimizing the election, talking about the Russians, talking about everything you can imagine except for the fact that we need to move this country forward.”
The former RNC chair than defiantly added, “We’re not gonna sit around and take it.”
Priebus must have been feeling quite proud of himself until, of course, Wallace asked to “put up the picture again.”
“You talk about honesty. You say this is about honesty. But there's another issue here though, Reince, and that is the president's honesty. Two things he said yesterday were just flat wrong,” Wallace continued, putting up the pictures of Obama’s 2009 inauguration next to Trump’s. “Take a look at those pictures. Which one is bigger?”
After Priebus insisted the recent inauguration photo was taken before the ceremony began, Wallace had the perfect response.
“I think this is a ridiculous conversation,” he shot back.
