Colin Powell Denies Affair With Romanian diplomat after Email Hacked

Colin Powell denied allegations of having an affair with a Romanian diplomat after notorious hacker posted the former US Secretary of State’s personal e-mails online.

A week after New York city Mayoral Candidate Anthony Weinerpublicly admitted to lewd sexting - for the second time, Powell followed suit and was forced to reveal details about his personal communications.

In an official statement published by The Smoking Gun on Thursday, Powell said that he had known Romanian diplomat Corina Critu for approximately 10 years. He maintained that they had only seen each other ‘once or twice’, adding that they had kept in touch via e-mail.

“Overtime the e-mails became of a personal nature, but did not result in an affair,” he stated.

The Smoking Gun reported that during their correspondence Critu referred to Powell as the love of her life.

Powell was aware that his personal accounts had been hacked earlier in the year. Back in March, ‘Guccifer’ posted anti-Bush screeds on the former general’s Facebook Page. This time the hacker linked a Google document containing details of his e-mails with Critu to the Ex-Secretary of State’s Facebook account, which was later deleted.

Guccifer is no newbie to rattling the political elite and government officials. The Bush family, the Rockefeller family, U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski and various others are reportedly victims of his hacking sprees.

“I am pleased that she is having a successful career. I am pleased that she is recently and happily married,” Powell concluded in his statement.
