Everyone definitely needs to think twice before they exercise their freedom of expression even on a social networking website like Facebook, and if you are a US military personnel you definitely have to. In a recent incident a US Marine named Gary Stein had to lose his job after he was found criticizing President Obama on his Facebook page.
The conservative Marine who started an armed forces tea party on his Web page went off the track after he said in one of his comments, "Screw Obama. I will not follow all orders from him." An absolutely badly word phrase and that too, for the President!
However Stein later expressed regret on his comments saying, "The words that I used were tasteless and I could have articulated my point more clearly. I am man enough to admit my mistakes." But maybe it was too late. He was forced to resign from the military without being provided any benefits, on which he could not resist saying that his freedom of speech has been violated.
Prior to this high ranking military official Stanley McCrystal was asked to submit his resignation after his criticism on President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, however he was able to enjoy full retirement with all benefits which is definitely not the case for Gary Stein.
