The Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday released the highly anticipated – and dreaded – 500-page summary of its report on the CIA’s post-9/11 torture program.
While the horrific details of the torturous “enhanced investigations” on suspects and inmates are undoubtedly condemnable, here are some reactions and responses from prominent people that are equally deplorable.
“CIA Didn’t Torture People, Just Made Them ‘Stand in Awkward Positions’”
Gruesome techniques such as rectal rehydration, ice water baths and waterboarding are not torture at all, according to Republican Peter King.
Incoming New Republic editor thinks people need to calm down because the detainees were not like burned or stabbed or cut. “We’re talking about people being made to stand in awkward in positions, have water put into their nose and into their mouth. Nobody suffered any lasting injuries from this,” King said.
“I Haven't Read' CIA Torture Report but It's Full of Crap”
Former Vice President Dick Cheney who has been proved a great big liar after the release of the report predictably doesn’t really feel good about it.
In fact, he hasn’t read it but he knows that it’s full of garbage.
“I'm ok torturing terrorists”
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), a potential candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 doesn’t really care what methods are being used to interrogate suspects and/or terrorists as long as they are being tortured.
Those who served us in aftermath of 9/11 deserve our thanks not one sided partisan Senate report that now places American lives in danger.— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) December 9, 2014
“I don’t care what we did”
Former GOP operative and current co-host of "The View" Nicole Wallace thinks it’s all fine because torture has more or less become a norm.
And she also doesn’t want to talk about it because, well, past is past.
“It’s a distraction from Obamacare!”
And last but not the least, folks at Fox News takes the cake in this list of outrageous reactions to the torture report.
According to the geniuses at the conservative news channel, this document is a scam to distract the American nation from the evils of the Affordable Care Act.
