There is one issue in American politics that infect every other part of the system. It's also an issue that we can't expect our elected officials to do anything about. We're the ones who have to bring this fight to them.

There is one issue in American politics that infect every other part of the system. It's also an issue that we can't expect our elected officials to do anything about. We're the ones who have to bring this fight to them.

The issue: how money corrupts American politics.

Corporations spend billions every year to influence American politics. Why? Because it works. If a lobbyist from an industry who backed a senator's last campaign wants a provision in a 600 page bill removed, why not? And if they have a bill that they wrote which they say will create jobs and help their industry? Hey, that sounds good.

It's less about corrupt actors in a good system, and more that we have a system in which a politician's best strategy to get reelected is to pander for money, and the easiest way to do that is to please the people with giant piles of money.
