A couple chose not to sit next to a group of police officers at Eat n' Park restaurant in Pennsylvania while two cops responded by paying their tab.

One day after the Dallas shooting of five police officers, a Pennsylvania couple chose not to sit by a group of cops at Eat n’ Park restaurant.

Officer Chuck Thomas, one of the cops in the group, overheard the couple talk about how they refused to sit next them and decided to split the couple’s bill with another officer, according to The Daily Mail.

Before the couple moved to an opposite location, Thomas said, “It’s ok sir. You won’t have to worry about it, we won’t hurt you. He looked at me hard again and said he’s not sitting here and walked away.”

Thomas shared the couple’s $28.58 bill with another police officer at the table and even left a tip, along with a message for the duo on their receipt.

“Sir, your check was paid for by the police officers that you didn’t want to sit next to,” the message said. “Thanks for your support.”

Thomas explained why he and another officer graciously paid for the bill.

“Essentially the whole goal of it was to let him know that we’re not here to hurt you, we’re not here for that,” he said to WTAE. “We’re here for you. We work for the public. And we just want to better the relationship between the community and the police.”

Although many of us feel angered towards police officers after the recent shootings, we must not live in fear of every police officer and know that the main concern for many cops is to protect their communities.
