Even though on the first day of Democratic National Convention, it was Michelle Obama who was in the spotlight, but the charismatic presence of the mayor of San Antonio, Julian Castro cannot be sidelined.
Julian averaged 11, 503 TPM during his keynote speech, overtaking New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s GOP speech that averaged 6,079 TPM last week.
Like the first lady, Castro delivered a speech based on values and character pleas for the President’s campaign, and rejected the economic agenda formed by Republicans as a set of recycled and worthless ideas.
“We all understand that freedom isn’t free. What Romney and Ryan don’t understand is that neither is opportunity. We have to invest in it,”Castro said.
“Republicans tell us that if the most prosperous among us do even better, that somehow the rest of us will too. Folks, we’ve heard that before.”

Like the first lady, Julian was also able to garner some extremely positive comments in the form of tweets that began coming in after his speech. Former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, David Axelrod tweeted:
Julian Castro absolutely crushed it!A week later, America hears keynoter who inspired, instead of incited. That, too, defines difference.— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) September 5, 2012
Once again Piers Morgan was seen at the frontline appreciating the speech by Julian when he tweeted:
This guy's a new political rock star - superb speech. I'll interview @juliancastro and his twin brother LIVE in an hour on CNN.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) September 5, 2012
Also, celebrity Eva Longoria (@EvaLongoria) tweeted:
With the democrats on the very first day of their convention taking the Twitter by storm, we’re just wondering what will happen when the President himself will be on stage?! Let’s just say we’re all waiting for it!
