A cell phone video recorded earlier this year shows US defense contractors at an operations center in Kabul, Afghanistan drunk and high on narcotics. The video was provided to ABC News by two former employees of Jorge Scientific who felt that the pattern of drug usage and the outrageous behavior of defense contractors can jeopardize American lives.
The two employees named, Melson and Kenny Smith, worked as security officers in Kabul for a Virginia based company known as Arlington which is responsible for the training of Afghan National Police in counter-insurgency tactics.
The video shows a shirtless man taking long swigs from the glass and begins kicking in the air. Later in the video, the same man engages another employee in a wrestling match. ‘It was like a frat house for adults,’ Melson said. ‘Some of them to the point where they were passing out, there’s firearms laying around, some of them still carrying the firearms on them.’
Another segment of the video shows medical officer, Kevin Carlson injecting himself with the narcotic Ketamine. He then appears to be disoriented and unresponsive. Melson also said that personnel under the influence would often throw rounds of live ammunition which poses a professional as well as personal hazard.
It is important to mention here that the company’s operation manual has a ‘zero-tolerance for alcohol and drug use’.
