We are hearing non-stop about the controversial election that took place over the weekend in the Crimean peninsula. Crimea had the choice to either join Russia, or move into a semi-autonomous state. There was no option to simply stay as part of Ukraine. The international community, most prominently the United States, refuses to acknowledge the outcome of the election, which went over 90% in favor of joining Russia.
