Donald Trump has a history of jumping to conclusions, and in the wake of the New York bombing, he once again suggested racial profiling as a countering terrorism method.
Speaking of the various attacks to have hit the country recently, Trump suggested the police are aware of who the terrorists are.
"They are afraid to do anything about it because they don't want to be accused of profiling, and they don't want to be accused of all sorts of things,” he said. "You know, in Israel, they profile. They have done an unbelievable job, as good as you can do ...They see somebody that's suspicious, they will profile. They will take that person in and check [him or her] out.”
The presidential candidate on numerous accounts has expressed his hatred toward Muslims, and has even suggested banning all 1.6 billion members of the religion from entering the United States. But when Fox News host Bill O’Reilly asked the presidential nominee if his plan would result in all Muslims being looked at with suspicion, Trump soon backed off on his words.
“I never said the term ‘Muslim,’” he asserted. “I’m saying we’re going to profile people that maybe look suspicious, I didn’t say if they were Muslims or not.”
Trump is back to his old tricks. Say something, find it evokes outrage and then deny saying it. His entire presidential campaign has been based around keeping Muslims, Mexicans and immigrants out of the country. He has criticized President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for their immigration laws and even suggested building a wall around America to keep others out.
Even if he was to believed, it is interesting that Trump doesn’t even know on what basis people are going to be judged as “safe” or “unsafe.” When O’Reilly asked him what it means to “look suspicious,” Trump replied, “I don’t know! These are profiling experts, that’s what they do. They profile.”
“I’m not using the term Muslim!” Trump went on. But anyone who has followed his campaign over the months would know what a liar, racist, misogynist and xenophobe the Republican candidate really is.
He really doesn’t need to say the word “Muslim” when talking about profiling since his speeches and future plans all make it clear that he aims to keep Muslims out.
