Rescuers are searching for around 50 people believed trapped under a three-storey apartment building in Vadodara city when it collapsed Wednesday morning.
According to the Reuters, so far thirteen people have been rescued, but dozens moreare believed trapped underneath the wreckage of the three-storey apartment building.
The government has deployed the army and a disaster response force in the search.
So far at least seven are confirmed dead after the structure housing 14 flats collapsed around 4:30am on Wednesday.
Some residents said they had complained about the weakening structure, but authorities did nothing.
Many Indian buildings do not conform to safety regulations, with owners constructing extra floors or structures without approval from authorities.
