Dramatic Flood Rescue In Brazil

A dramatic rescue caught on tape in a mountainous region in southern Brazil.

TV Globo images in a city about 100 km north of Rio de Janeiro showed one woman holding a dog in the ruins of her house as powerful floodwaters tore at the remaining walls.

With the waters rising, the woman grabbed a rope thrown by residents from a nearby rooftop.

But the floodwaters swept the woman's dog away. Moments later the woman was pulled to safety.

Nearby, rescue workers plucked a 6-month-old baby and his father from the remains of a house that was battered by heavy rains and deadly floods.

At least 362 people have been killed in the area in one of Brazil's worst natural disasters in decades.

Officials say the death toll is likely to rise.
