Eva Longoria, famous actress and top Obama campaign surrogate, is being acknowledged for her efforts with a post that puts her among many Democratic luminaries: Co-Chair of the Inaugural Committee.

Actress Eva Longoria will take her seat among a number of political heavy hitters as Co-Chair of the President’s Inaugural Committee. Longoria was a top surrogate and campaign co-chair during Obama’s successful reelection bid.

All four living presidents — Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton — are named as honorary co-chairs. Obama's top campaign staffers, including Jim Messina and Stephanie Cutter are chairing subcommitties. Inauguration posts provide a chance to acknowledge the major figures in the party and in politics in general, and Longoria's high-level position shows that she is taken seriously in the Democratic Party.

On the downside, this will not help my habit of confusing Eva Longoria and Ashley Judd, because Judd has also been making political headlines lately with speculation that she may challenge Mitch McConnell for his Kentucky Senate seat.
