Over the weekend, a drunkard decided to rob a gas station by holding a 6-foot-7, 285-pound wrestler on gunpoint. Unluckily for him, his attempt at burglary ended the way one would imagine given the circumstances: quite badly, that is.
Former WWE superstar Shad Gaspard, who was also one-half of the tag team Cryme Tyme, was driving back from a wrestling show when he decided to stop at a gas station in Coral Springs, Florida. As he was going inside the store, a man allegedly walked up to him and demanded Gaspard buy him a beer.
When the wrestler responded by saying, “There's a better way to ask than that,” the man, believed to be intoxicated at the time, whipped out a gun and pointed it at him.
As the Pro Wrestling Sheet reports, Gaspard’s first thought after having a gun pointed at him was “d*** this, I'm not dying in Florida.” Therefore, he countered the threat by using his massive size to his advantage — which somewhat worked, but things escalated quickly from there.
As the story goes, the man told the 35-year-old to leave so he could rob the store. However, instead of running away, Gaspard risked his life by grabbing the would-be-robber and smashing him against the freezer door.
He then reached for the firearm, which had fallen to the ground, only to find out that the weapon had an air canister.
Apparently, it was just a BB gun.
“I thought it was a real gun the entire time and honestly, I just didn’t want anyone to get hurt,” Gaspard said. “I just kept thinking about how I wanted to make sure I got home to my son.”
The wrestler’s former Cryme Tyme tag team partner, JTG, was waiting outside in the car for him to return. When he saw Gaspard come out of the gas station with a man in a rear chokehold, he called 911.
The cops showed up on the scene and arrested the suspect.
“I heard you took down a suspect with BB gun in a store and waited for the cops to show up. Way to go Shad, you became a hero,” commented an Instagram user on Gaspard’s social media account, while another wrote, “You're a true hero. People don't realize how real an air soft gun or BB gun can look, especially when you're in a situation like that and when the person wants you to think it's a real gun. I'm glad you were able to take him down and safely get home to your son.”
TMZ later published a photo of Gaspard with the store’s clerk.

Even if the gun turned out to be a fake, no one can deny Gaspard’s bravery of taking on a drunken guy thinking he was actually armed.
