Several people have died as record-breaking flood waters bring chaos to parts of Canada. Not only that more than 100, 000 people have been forced to leave their homes.

The floods followed 36 hours of unusually heavy rain that pushed the volume of water in rivers to record levels.

Some areas got six months of their normal rainfall in less than two days. People are being warned to stay clear of affected areas. Residents are advised to remain away from bridges, waterways, banks and evacuated areas for their own safety. Rescue from the river may not be possible at this time.

Authorities in Calgary, Canada's oil capital, say power cuts could go on for weeks or even months afterwards.
