Taliban gunman stormed a prison Monday night in central Pakistan in a coordinated attack to free prisoners.
Officials said up to 40 gunmen wearing police uniforms blew up the electricity line to the prison in Dera Ismail Khan and detonated heavy explosions that breached the outer walls.
The militants fought their way inside the building using rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns.
A Taliban spokesman said about 300 prisoners were freed in the attack.
The prison houses around 5000 prisoners, 250 of whom are Pakistani Taliban and members of a banned sectarian group.
