Four Killed In Argentina Clashes

Clashes between squatters and local residents have left four people dead in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, reports said Saturday.

The clashes erupted Tuesday when police tried to evict thousands of landless immigrants from Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru who occupied a park in the working class southern suburb of Villa Soldati.

When the squatters returned after the police had left, local residents began attacking them.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the deaths.

The federal government has since ejected a request from municipal officials to deploy more police to chase away the squatters.
