French MP Gilles Bourdouleix is under fire over a Nazi Roma remark. The Mayor said that he wished the Nazis had murdered more Roma gypsies during the Second World War. He now faces expulsion from the centre-right UDI Party.
He also faces prosecution with judicial authorities deliberating whether he can be charged with "justifying a crime against humanity" after he allegedly suggested "Hitler did not kill enough" Gypsies. Bourdouleix made this remark when a French traveler community provoked him by making Nazi salutes towards the MP.
A French journalist Fabien Leduc apparently recorded Bourdouleix’s statement on tape. According to the evidence, the original line that the Mayor uttered was, “If it was Hitler, he would have killed them all.”
According to The Local (France), UDI’s party leader Jean-Louis Borloo, has condemned the alleged comments.
“Whatever the real and unacceptable provocations the Deputy Mayor of Cholet, Gilles Bourdouleix was subjected to, nothing justifies the remarks apparently made by him, if the recording put online by the Courrier de l’Ouest this afternoon is to be believed," said Borloo.
Gilles Bourdouleix is also being criticized on the internet.
Gilles Bourdouleix is a fucking idiot, one of the most unforgivable comments I've ever heard a person make, punishment should be severe— Grace Wallis (@Gracie_Wallis) July 23, 2013

A French politician suggested that Hitler 'didn't kill enough' Roma gypsies. Unbelievable! I hope he gets sacked.— Sarah H (@SLH82) July 24, 2013
Reuters reports that the French interior minister has ordered police in western France to take action against Bourdouleix.
“This is not a slip of the tongue,” said Interior Minister Manuel Valls. “A case has been brought before the courts because this is praise for the crimes of World War Two, it's praise for Nazis, and coming from a mayor it's unbearable.”
Things certainly don’t look good for Gilles Bourdouleix. It remains to be seen if he will be sacked or jailed. Stay connected to Carbonated.TV for updates on the story.
