Gabby Giffords is living proof of the need for gun reform, and she advocates for gun reform laws in an ad titled "It's Too Dangerous To Wait" to be aired before and after Tuesday’s State of the Union Address.
Gabrielle “Gabby” Giffords (D-Ariz.) is no longer in Congress, but she hopes to still have a sway on what goes on there. Giffords had to leave Congress after getting shot by Jared Lee Loughner. Loughner killed six and injured thirteen in the surprise shooting.
In 2012, Giffords started Americans for Responsible Solutions with her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly. ARS advocates for basic, common sense ideas like universal background checks to prevent convicted felons and mentally unstable people from purchasing a gun.
Everyone has their pet issues, but for Giffords, this is more than a favorite cause. She knows all too well that our broken gun laws end lives. Giffords is lucky to still be here. She is devoted to making luck less of a factor in who dies to gun violence.
