Anthony Cumia, best known for previously hosting the morning radio show Opie and Anthony has been mired in controversy—he was fired in 2014 from Sirius XM due to horrible, racist and misogynistic tweets, and now, he can add alleged domestic violence to his many defects.
According to court documents procured by Newsday, Cumia allegedly stomped on his girlfriend’s hand, breaking it, before pinning her against a wall and strangling her.
The woman, Danielle Brand, Periscoped a part of the assault; Cumia is seen slapping her, and she holds up her swollen hand along with other bruises for the camera to see. She yells, "Don't hit me again!," and states that she attempted to call the police but Cumia smashed her cell phone. Brand suffered a fractured rib and broken hand from the assault.
Cumia was arrested and the judge set his bail at $50,000. He will be tried on January 4th for strangulation, assault, criminal mischief, and unlawful imprisonment. In the past, Cumia has shown little remorse for his despicable behavior, so it remains to be seen whether he will accept any responsibility for what he inflicted on Brand.
