Anonymous, the group of hackers known for their activism initiated a worldwide protest of governmental corruption in celebration of Guy Fawkes Day.

Guy Fawkes Day is an annual holiday named for Guy Fawkes, a Catholic terrorist who was arrested by British authorities on Nov. 5, 1605. Fawkes’ was arrested midway through a plot to blow up the House of Lords and assassinate King James.

Why The Million Mask March?
"To remind this world what it has forgotten, That fairness, justice, and freedom are more than just words," reads their mission statement.

Where Did The Million Mask March Took Place?

It was an international event and took place almost simultaneously at 450 protest locations across the world. Major presence was noted in the following cities:

Washington, Vancouver, Boston, Los Angeles, Denver, USA

London, Birmingham, UK

Edinburgh-Scotland, New Zealand

Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Tasmania, Darwin and Perth, Australia

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Oslo, Norway

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Another Million Mask March is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on Nov 9th
