Prince William, the second in line for the British throne, is 30 years old now. So, what does it mean? It means he had a party and celebrated the first thirty decades of his life with his friends and family. And he got gifts!
His grand mother the queen bestowed him with the Order of the Thistle, the highest honor in Scotland!
Kate Middleton is said to have posed for a portrait painted by artist Nicky Philipsand even put together a scrapbook and an iPod playlist for him. That is all separate from the party she threw him. It may have been low key but had 300 close friends and family on the guest list.
People are hoping she also gifts him an heir before his next birthday but that only time will tell.
That’s not all; one of his charities received a gift as well. Will.i.am donated more than $780,000 US dollars to Prince Charles' charity, The Prince's Trust.
But that’s not all, even his late mother left him something for his grand day. Quite a bit of something actually! In her will she left a net estate of £12,966,022after inheritance tax of £8,502,330 was deducted and cash from her £17m divorce settlement. The estate could now be worth around £20m and is stipulated to be given to both her sons when they become 30. Well, Harry has a good two years to go but William has landed himself a whopping £10 million or so.
We wonder what he will do with all this money! Kate is quite frugal and William himself prefers the simple things in life. So, there’s very little chance they will be doing grand things like buying yachts or throwing wild parties.
f course, there will be investments but we do hope the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge use the windfall for a bit of enjoyment as well. They can be sensible all they want after that!
In the meanwhile William has a lot to celebrate. He is settled happily with the charismatic Kate, his career is going smoothly and he seems to be faring rather well compared to the other married royals.
