People often put up pretty weird items for auction on eBay, but this one definitely takes the cake.
A man in Austin, Texas, has put up his 2007 MacBook on the auctioning website, claiming that the computer is “very haunted.”
The current owner of the laptop is an amateur artist who’s unclear on how the machine became haunted, though he suspects it happened when he took it to the graveyard that one time while working on a sketch. Here is how he explains the condition of his laptop:
“Well, I took the computer home (still in perfect working condition) and, folks, this is when things started to get downright weird. First, I noticed that ALL of my songs in iTunes had become scary or haunted. Second, the desktop background was changed to a scary photo. The following week, we (my wife, Barbie, and I) noticed some of our stuff around the house had been mysteriously rearranged. One night, we went out to dinner with my wife’s parents and their friends and some people from my wife’s work and some of their parents. When we came home, my baseball cards were all out of order and my wife’s rare American coins were in total disarray. To make matters spookier, I occasionally saw the computer levitating. In some cases the screen and keyboard would open and shut quickly, as though the computer were attempting to speak.”

The bid started from $75 and is currently at $106.50.
As if the offer wasn’t compelling enough on its own, the computer also comes with a collection of haunted music on iTunes, ghostly pictures, Edgar Allan Poe stories, and a “Certificate of Haunting” signed by the owner himself. Unfortunately, the unit is missing the power cord and also has few scratches on its body, though it’s not a deal breaker, right?
Even though this whole story has a fake ring to it and everyone seems skeptical of the whole thing, best of luck to the next owner of this haunted MacBook.
