Jofi Joseph, an official in the National Security Staff at the White House, was fired last week after being caught for insulting and inappropriate tweets. He had an account with the Twitter handle @NatSecWonk.
It is said that he was leaking internal information since 2011 through his Twitter feed. Though according to The Washington Post, his tweets "never included classified or highly sensitive information, making a true leak investigation difficult to mount, but they often contained insider details."
He regularly tweeted criticism on government policies and his bosses, not even sparing President Barack Obama.
Some of his insulting tweets published by The Week:
‘He tweeted that his one-time boss, then-National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, "only selects young attractive women" for from office positions.
About Ann and Tagg Romney:"Has rich kid Tagg Romney ever even been in a fight? What a piece of shit. He needs to tell his mom to lose about 15 pounds ...."
On Liz Cheney: "What happens when rank nepotism meets sheer stupidity. Also, she takes after her father -- she's like 30 pounds overweight."’
In an email to Politico Joseph said, "What started out as an intended parody account of DC culture developed over time into a series of inappropriate and mean-spirited comments."
He also apologized saying, "I bear complete responsibility for this affair and I sincerely apologize to everyone I insulted."
Though his account has been deleted, some of his tweets are available on Favstar, a web service that tracks tweets.

Amidst the misogyny, foul language, and crude insults in @natsecwonk's feed was some Grade-A gossip that only an insider would have known.— Andrew Exum (@abumuqawama) October 23, 2013

I guess the only impression of Jofi Joseph I had from the few times I met him was that you'd never think he'd be @NatSecWonk.— Josh Shahryar شهريار (@JShahryar) October 23, 2013
Dear @NatSecWonk / Jofi Joseph. I'll miss ya here. You were always fun & often right. Thanks for following me. Someone smart WILL hire you.— TJ Hatter (@TJ22Hatter) October 23, 2013
Joseph has worked at the State Department and on Capitol Hill for Senators Bob Casey and Joe Biden. He has part of the administration's team working on negotiations with Iran.
There's no word on how his termination will impact his wife, who also has a high profile job on Capitol Hill.
