An abusive babysitter in South Carolina is going to jail, thanks to an incredible dog, who may have saved the life of an infant.
The parents of 7 month-old Finn Jordan could tell that not all was right when their dog, Killian, barked and got aggressive anytime his babysitter, Alexis Khan, got close to Finn.
“We noticed the dog was getting very defensive when Alexis was around. He would growl and stand between her and our son. His hair would stand up on the back of his neck and we knew something was up,” Benjamin Jordan, Finn’s father said. Killian, a mix between a black lab and a German shepherd, was usually an obedient and friendly dog, so his behavior around Khan was particularly alarming.
The concerned parents left an iPhone under their living room couch to record audio of Khan and Finn. They suspected that Khan may have been abusing the dog. Instead, they discovered something even worse about the babysitter they had employed since shortly after Finn’s birth: it wasn’t the dog she was abusing.
The audio revealed the horrifying sounds of Khan slapping, shaking and shouting at the baby. Finn’s parents took him immediately to get checked out by a doctor, which showed that he was in good shape. A Charleston detective extracted a confession out of Khan, and she was convicted of assault and battery. She will serve three years in prison, and be placed in a registry of child abusers.
Finn is now doing fine, as is Killian, who proves once again that dogs are wonderful, and you should get one.
