There was evidently no love lost between then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who died after a 2011 battle.
So much so that Clinton can laugh about Gadhafi's death now.
Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time of the interview above, shared a laugh with a television news reporter talking about Gadhafi.
“We came, we saw, he died...” *laughs.*
The reporter asked if Gadhafi's death had anything to do with her surprise visit to Libya. "No," she replied, before rolling her eyes and saying, "I'm sure it did" with a chuckle.
Many, including the Washington Times, believed that Clinton was responsible for creating circumstances in Libya that led to the tragic Benghazi attacks.
To justify an illegal ouster of Gadhafi, Clinton falsely claimed the Libyan leader was planning genocidal attacks against his domestic enemies, an investigative report in the Washington Times suggests.
The report also hints that the former secretary of state had no clear plan for how to deal with the Libyan crisis she “created.”
It also goes on to imply that Clinton was responsible for “the lawlessness and chaos she spawned in that country led to the deadly Muslim terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012.”
“In the documents and separately recorded conversations with U.S. emissaries, Libyan officials expressed particular concern that the weapons and training given the rebels would spread throughout the region, in particular turning the city of Benghazi into a future terrorist haven,” Jeffrey Scott Shapiro wrote for the Washington Times.
