A man flees the scene of a fatal accident he caused and later found out his mom was one of the victims.

A motorcyclist accidentally crashed into two elderly women only to later discover one of them was his own mother.

Xiong Ku, road accident

The 45-year-old biker, Xiong Ku, was riding from his in-laws’ house with his 10-year-old son when he ran into the two women. The cause of the collision was due due in part to dim lighting in addition to the fact he was speeding.

The incident occurred in Daye, a city in central China’s Hubei Province.  After the crash, Ku was in such a panic that he made his son – who attempted to call an ambulance – get back on the bike and they rode away.

Later, police contacted Ku and he expected it was about the accident, which… it kind of was, but not in the same way that he thought. The police were notifying him that his mother had been killed by a hit-and-run driver.

Upon hearing the details of the accident, he realized that the same crash that took his mother’s life was the one he had caused and ran away from.

Police began putting up posters and investigating the case to find the driver and even offered a reward for information, but they immediately called off the search once Ku confessed and turned himself in. He is currently in custody and awaiting trial.
