Houston Cop Leaps Out Of Helicopter And Tackles Burglary Suspect

Two accused burglars who thought they were going to get away with breaking into a home instead ended up in an epic car chase.

Houston Police Department arrived at a Melwood Street home June 28 to hunt down thieves, after residents in the area called 911 to report their neighbor’s house was being burgled.

By the time the police arrived, the burglars had fled the residence. A patrol car chased the suspects, who had run off into a field, and then managed to knock one of them down. Undeterred, the alleged burglar stood up and began running again trying to escape the officers.

However, he was soon caught off guard when an officer jumped out a helicopter, in what looked like a scene from a Hollywood movie, and ran after the accused burglar, wrestling him to the ground.

The second suspect, who had run off during this epic chase, was later hunted down and arrested in another neighborhood.

The burglars’ names and identities have not been released as of yet.

The house in question is owned by Sarah and Rik Dalton, who were at work at the time of the incident. Fortunately, although the thieves successfully broke into their home, they weren't able to get away with anything. Yet, during their burglary pursuit, they damaged four doors and sliced up a new mattress.

Apparently, the couple received an alert at work that something was not right in their home, upon which they asked their neighbors to check if everything was OK.

Fortunately, the incident ended without any harm to people and the rest of the couple’s belongings remained untouched. They sure owe the police officers involved a big thank you!
