Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez passed away on March 5, after a two-year battle with cancer.
The controversial socialist, who called President Obama a ‘fraud’, was extremely popular on Twitter with more than 4 million followers.
Chavez was missing from Twitter since November 1, 2012 as he was under treatment in Cuba. He finally sent his three last tweets, two weeks ago on February 18, praising his doctors, nurses, Fidel, Cuba, and the people of Venezuela.
In his first tweet he informed everyone about returning to Venezuela.
Hemos llegado de nuevo a la Patria venezolana. Gracias Dios mío!! Gracias Pueblo amado!! Aquí continuaremos el tratamiento.
— Hugo Chávez Frías (@chavezcandanga) February 18, 2013
The tweet translates as: We come back to the country of Venezuela. Thank God! Thank you dear people! Here we continue the treatment.
Then he thanked Cuba and Venezuela for all the love and support.
Gracias a Fidel, a Raúl y a toda Cuba!! Gracias a Venezuela por tanto amor!!!
— Hugo Chávez Frías (@chavezcandanga) February 18, 2013
The tweet translates as: Thanks to Fidel, Raul and all of Cuba! With much love for Venezuela!
His final tweet reflected his faith in the doctors and his recovery.
Sigo aferrado a Cristo y confiado en mis médicos y enfermeras. Hasta la victoria siempre!! Viviremos y venceremos!!!
— Hugo Chávez Frías (@chavezcandanga) February 18, 2013
The tweet translates as: I still clung to Christ and trust in my doctors and nurses. Ever onward to victory! We will live and overcome!
Chavez’s tweets reflect that he was hopeful to recover soon. Unfortunately the 58-year-old bright and controversial Venezuelan president is not amongst us now.
