Ukrainian pensioners in central Kiev meet up in a subway to dance and celebrate love. Rumor has it that these gatherings have been taking place every Saturday for about 20 years in an underpass near a city centre metro station. For the ones who participate in this weekly activity, it is the only opportunity to meet other people and socialize; therefore, it holds much importance in their lives and is more than just a dance.
They are allowed to use the public passage by the Ukrainian authorities because they cannot afford to pay for a separate place to hold the event. Pensions in Ukraine might be low but the happiness in the hearts of the pension receivers doubles when they meet each other on Saturdays to celebrate their love and friendship.
Following are some beautiful pictures from the event:

A police officer patrols as pensioners dance in an underpass.
A woman eats in a bistro as pensioners dance. The couple looks absolutely adorable!
Musicians, couples, dancers even several young couples join the gathering to meet friends.
Mykola Milevsky (R), 75, and Natalia Stolyarenko, 58, dance together in central Kiev. They are one of the many couples who met during these gatherings and have lived together for over 4 years now.
