Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore tried to back out of statements she made about shooting Syrian refugees in the head after receiving backlash.

Gun-toting Tea Party Republican and Nevada Assemblywoman, Michele Fiore, was recently in the spotlight for her family’s controversial Christmas card that sent the internet spiraling into debate about gun control

The Christmas card included a photo of her entire family — children and babies included — modeling firearms in matching outfits.

Now, Fiore is a topic of discussion again since audio from a recent radio segment has come out in which Fiore says she would use the guns she loves so much to shoot Syrian refugees in the head.

About seven minutes and 20 seconds into the Nov. 21 episode of her weekly radio show, Walk the Talk with Michele Fiore, she said that she didn’t sign a statement from Republican assemblymen opposing Syrian refugees settling in Nevada because she could just kill them herself.

“What—are you kidding me? I’m about to fly to Paris and shoot ‘em in the head myself!” she said. “I am not okay with Syrian refugees. I’m not okay with terrorists. I’m okay with putting them down, blacking them out, just put a piece of brass in their ocular cavity and end their miserable life. I’m good with that.”

She also refers to refugees as, "young, strapping, militant men" as if to imply that women, children, and families aren't refugees, just all militant able-bodied men.

As her comments spread like wildfire and she began feeling the heat from critics, she reportedly released a statement to Las Vegas news station, KSNV to “clarify” her statements.

“I’m not going to back down,” she said. “I never said I would shoot a Syrian refugee, period. What I said is if it came down to a terrorist or myself I would not hesitate to kill a terrorist…period.”

Right ... (side-eye)

Perhaps that was what Fiore MEANT to say, if you give her the benefit of the doubt, but that’s certainly not what she SAID.

Her original comments imply that terrorists and Syrian refugees are one in the same and she wants to "put them down." She can't renege on her words just because the public has pointed out how ignorant and bigoted she is for saying them.
