A convicted man earlier this month in Iran was paraded down the streets of Marivan, dressed as a woman by the police as punishment:
Men in Iran, in solidarity with a local feminist organization ‘Marivan Womens' Community’ held a protest against this kind of humiliation caused by the law enforcement authorities.
A campaign "Kurd Men for Equality" was launched on Facebook where Kurdish men posted photos of themselves in women’s clothing. The message of the campaign is:
“Being a woman is not a way for humiliation or punishment.”
Moreover, 17 members of Iran’s parliament have signed a letter sent to the Justice Ministry condemning this sentence as “humiliating to Muslim women."
So, what do you think about the protest? Will it prove to be effective? Tell us with your comments.
