The defense ministry of South Korea has said that it will ‘sweep North Korea from the face of the Earth’ if Pyongyang dares to launch a nuclear attack.
Defense minister Kim Min-Seok said, “I am telling you this as a member of the human race: If North Korea (DPRK) attacks South Korea with nuclear weapons, the Kim Jong Un regime will vanish from the earth by the will of the humanity.”
South Korea recently announced its plans to develop long range missiles and a missile defense system of its own. A North Korean general has said that the country has placed long-range missiles with nuclear warheads on standby. The attacks, according to the generals of the country, are going to be destructive and merciless.
The hostile response came from North Korea after UN issued sanctions which dictate the checking of DRPK cargo ships that might be carrying banned substances and tighten security of all North Korean institutions that may also be involved in certain illicit activities.
When South Korea supported the sanctions, things took a rather ugly turn and DRPK decided to nullify the non-aggression pact with South.
Threats coming from both the sides point towards a very dangerous direction. And it seems as if the region has finally prepared itself for war. United Nations is allegedly supposed to create peace between two conflicting parties and now because of its sanctions, the exact opposite is about to happen.
Almost 60 years ago a war was waged that killed more than two million Koreans and separated thousands of families. Time has come for the world to act and do something concrete to stop the dreadful battle that is about to take place. A nuclear war will only bring more death and destruction to the region than 1953.
