An exclusive news report by Al Jazeera suggests that the United States plotted Mohamed Morsi’s ouster and paid anti-government activists in Egypt to get the Islamist president out of office in order to “promote” democracy in Middle East.

Ever since the democratically-elected president of Egypt was overthrown and the military took over, rumors stirred regarding Barack Obama’s silence over the matter. Speculations started circulating that the U.S. planned the whole coup in order to (further) strengthen Israel’s position in the region. And now, Al Jazeera claims to have ‘information obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, interviews, and public records reveal Washington's "democracy assistance" may have violated Egyptian law, which prohibits foreign political funding.’

If this turns out to be true, it’s not only going to be a political violation of all sorts, it will also confirm all conspiracy theories pertaining to US-Israel partnership to maintain hegemony in the Middle East.

The obtained documents also talk about an exiled Egyptian police officer who plotted the violent overthrow of the Morsi government and also reveal a secret State Department-run program dubbed as ‘democracy assistance’ initiative which was planned to serve U.S. interests in the region to bring back pro-Washington secularists in power.

According to the exclusive report, U.S. funds anti-Islamist activists and agents through a variety of official agencies, specifically the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL), The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and USAID. Also federal documents reveal that MEPI spends $70 million each year and USAID allocates $390 million of its $1.4 billion budget for democracy promotion in the Middle East.

But what we are witnessing in Egypt right now is not democracy but massacre and bloodshed instead. In fact, Egyptian military coup was undemocratic in each and every way and has only worsened the situation in the country.

So all that funding to anti-government activists in Egypt has led to loss of life and not democracy. FYI.

The Al Jazeera report in that case is proof of something that is far worse than using the taxpayers’ money to meddle in foreign countries.
