A young Israeli soldier, 20-year-old Mor Ostrovski, a sniper in the Israel Defense Forces, posted this image to his Instagram account (now deleted) showing a Palestinian boy in the crosshairs of his sniper rifle.
Needless to say the image has created ripples of outrage around the world. The photo went viral, and things got really testy, really fast.
Even though the IDF condemned the photo, saying it "doesn't accord with the IDF's spirits and values," and Ostrovski, who said he found the photo but did not take it the damage seem to have been done.
The image shows crosshairs zeroed in on the back of the head of what appears to be a Palestinian boy.
In November, the head of the IDF spokesperson’s social media unit landed in hot water after he posted a photo on Facebook with mud on his face, captioned “Obama style.”
Whatever the case behind the image may be, whether Mor fired or killed the target or not, the image is a sensitive one and by posting it as a source of pride, or worse, a joke is condemnable!
