A member of the Republican party and senior United States Senator, Chuck Grassley from Iowa, is apparently obsessed with three things; history, U.S. politics and Twitter.
On Saturday Grassley posted the following comment:
US has no foreign policy. We shld remember what happened th last time we had no foreign policy. It was Sept 1939 Hitler started WWII Poland— ChuckGrassley (@ChuckGrassley) May 18, 2013
His tweet garnered a lot of reaction but it was mostly negative. People were of the opinion that he should retire from his job since his comment made no sense whatsoever. Some even recommended that he should abandon his obsession with history.
Along with these people in the Twitter thread, a group called National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) had something rather serious to say about the Hitler comparison. Executive Director of NJDC, Aaron Keyak, issued the following statement yesterday:
“Senator Grassley’s Hitler comparison is absolutely inappropriate. Grassley’s remark unfortunately places him among the usual cranks spouting similar nonsense every day on Twitter and is unbefitting of a U.S. Senator. Grassley should apologize immediately for his tweet and realize the very real dangers of making such extreme comparisons.”
Senator Grassley is notorious for his history and History Channel tweets. He has posted some of the most hilarious comments regarding these two topics. Such as:
Just turned to history channel. No history. I used to get history. Why do we h v such a channelwhen it doesntdo history— ChuckGrassley (@ChuckGrassley) February 20, 2012

Following are some of the reactions which were posted to Grassley’s Hitler comment:
@bigchris77 Yes, he is an embarrassment to the institution of the US Senate. And that's not an easy accomplishment.— Jason Febery (@JasonFebery) May 18, 2013
