Jon Stewart said the conservative network was not willing to be happy during the festive season because it lived in a “world of pure fear and despair.”
Stewart skewered O’Reilly for lamenting the "Happy Holidays syndrome," which he blamed on "creeping secularism and pressure groups like the ACLU and saying the phrase “Happy holidays” did not apply this year because there were no holidays between Hannukah and Christmas.
“Apparently you can’t include anything past Christmas, like Kwanzaa, Epiphany or New Year’s. Although by that logic, it means that up until Hannukah, you can only say, ‘Happy Hannukah,’ but who the f*ck cares about that?”
He turned to Palin who, while promoting her Christmas book “Good Tidings and Great Joy,” touted the fact that she keeps a menorah out to teach her children about Judaism during the month of December.
“Quick word to the Palin kids,” Stewart said. “While I appreciate the gesture, Jews don’t actually just leave a Menorah out for the month of December, like a knick-knack in a curio case.”
