Judge Rules Arizona Can Enforce Strict Provision To Immigration LawA federal judge ruled on Tuesday that Arizona police could enforce the "show-your-papers" provision of the state's crackdown on illegal immigration that was upheld by a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

In a written order, U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton lifted an injunction blocking the measure, which required police to check the immigration status of people they stop and suspect are in the country illegally.

Arizona passed the controversial law targeting illegal immigrants in the U.S.-Mexico border state in 2010. The measure was among several enjoined by Bolton before it took effect.
