A grandmother and her daughter from Kentuky were arrested when a local store reported their disturbing pictures to the authorities.
According to WAVE, police approached the mother-daughter duo, Beth Hensley and Tracy Hensley, after staff at a Leslie County Rite Aid informed authorities they had seen images of toddlers with marijuana joints in their mouths.
Relatives of the children dropped off the photos to be developed at a Leslie County Rite Aidlast week. Beth Hensley tried to cancel the order on Friday but the photos had already been developed. She left the photos at the store and left. Employees at the store later checked the disturbing photos and contacted the sheriff right away.
“There were several children in pictures holding marijuana and had marijuana joints rolled up and was attempting to smoke them,” said Leslie County Deputy Adrian Cornett.
24 marijuana plants were found by Police and child-welfare workers at Hensley’s residence and five children, ages 1 to 7, were removed from Tracy Hensley's home and placed with a relative, at the time of the arrests.
51-year-old Beth Ann Hensley confessed that she posed her young grandchildren for these photos but also mentioned that this was just for fun. "It was just some to show them later on in a picture album how crazy their grandma was," she said.
Beth Hensley is now charged with trafficking, possession and cultivating marijuana, and her daughter, Tracy is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and unlawful operation with a minor.
Deputy Adrian Cornett said, “That's just deplorable to think that people would do something like that, like it's no big deal to them and that's just the demeanor they had about the whole situation.”
