A shocking video of a young Lebanese man microwaving his cat went viral over the weekend, sparking outrage over the social media. The car survived, but was badly burnt.
While one man carried out the heinous act, the other filmed it and later they uploaded it on YouTube.
The horrifying footage was blocked and removed a few hours later for violating YouTube rules. However, it is still available on other websites such as Facebook.
Lebanese blogger Joey Ayoub identified the two men as Mohammad Jallad and Hassan Hammoud on his blog. He even created a Facebook page on November 8, condemning the incident as an act of animal abuse and calling for Jallad and Hammoud’s punishment.
The page called “Stop The Criminals Mohammad Jallad & Hassan Hammoud - Animals Abusers” has garnered over 1,300 Facebook likes in two days.
According to Ayoub’s blogpost updates, he tracked down Jallad but wasn’t able to reach Hammoud who apparently released a second video “apologizing” for his actions.
However, Ayoub wasn’t convinced and posted the following message for Hammoud:
“Hassan, we want the cat to be given to an NGO such as Animals Lebanon or BETA. Animals Lebanon has been trying to talk to you for the past two days now and you’ve refused any cooperation. This is not a game, and I couldn’t care less about the thrill you must be feeling now that thousands of people know your name.”
People on Twitter are also upset over the video:
I watched the video of the guy putting his cat in the microwave now, #Lebanon is raising young criminals, he needs a therapy ASAP!— Ahmad M. Yassine (@Lobnene_Blog) November 8, 2013
There has to be something seriously, seriously wrong with you to microwave a cat. I hope the two men get hit by a bus http://t.co/GJcOhqyYrz— Daniel (@danielmarcevans) November 11, 2013
