Man Arrested Over 'Attack' On Braintree Mosque

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson and possession of an offensive weapon at an Essex mosque. Police said the 43-year-old was held after officers were called to a prayer centre in Silks Way, Braintree, at 19:25 BST.

On his Twitter account, local MP Brooks Newmark said a man armed with knives and an incendiary device had "attacked" the mosque.
