Storm Trooper arrested for loitering outside an elementary school with a fake gun.

A Massachusetts man is facing charges after donning a Star Wars storm trooper costume complete with a fake gun outside an elementary. The get-up alerted enough attention to cause the school to lock down.

George Cross, 40, was strolling through his neighborhood and showing off the new white plastic outfit he bought to his friends when the Brickett Elementary School principal spotted him and called 911 to report a man with a gun. The school then briefly went on lock down.

Cross was arrested on charges of disturbing a school and loitering within a 1,000 feet of a school.

Police spokesman Lt. Rick Donnelly told Salem News that t "the way things are today, you can't have that."

"Our feelings are that he was not there to cause harm to the kids, but he used bad judgment," Donnelly said.

Cross was released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty to the charges.
