Marine veteran Kevin Wood, father of a La Plata High School student, is banned from his daughter’s school after protesting her homework assignment to write about the tenets of Islam, Mecca and the Muslim Prophet.
Upset over the fact that the school supposedly forbids students from practicing Christianity in school but are OK with Islam as a homework assignment, he called them.
“I told her straight up, ‘You could take that Muslim-loving piece of paper and shove it up your white ***,'” Kevin Wood said in an interview. “If [students] can’t practice Christianity in school, they should not be allowed to practice Islam in school.”
He promised to “bring a shi*storm down on them like they’ve never seen.”
Concerned by the threats, the school subsequently banned him from entering the school property.
“He was threatening to cause a disruption or possible disruption at the school,” said a school spokesperson.

However Kevin Wood’s wife thinks he is being misunderstood. “Nowhere did he ever threaten,” Melissa Wood said. “And this is where it’s gotten totally blown out of proportion.”
“People do not understand what he endured when he was over in Iraq, and he lost friends, and he lost brothers and sisters to these people."
The school says students are required to pass world history as a graduation requirement, and that includes studying Middle Eastern culture as well. Similarly, they also study Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism.
After all the fuss, Woods’ daughter skipped the world history class and will fail her assignment.
It’s sad to witness incidents like these. However, countless military vets and soldiers live with nightmares as a result of their job and trauma they endure overseas, and it affects them in a bad, bad way. The xenophobia and the paranoia in a post-9/11 world don’t help either. The result is sad events like this one.
