Chile's Interior Minister Rodrigo Penailillo said five people died following a massive 8.2 quake that struck the north of the Andean country on Tuesday.
The tremors triggered a tsunami in the northern parts of the country; however, no deaths or injuries were reported as a result.
Penailillo said a tsunami alert for the country's coastline will remain in place for at least another six hours following a major earthquake, according to Reuters reports.
Here are a few images and videos from the aftermath of the earthquake.
