Americans gathered on Monday to honor their fallen soldiers on Memorial Day and President Barack Obama led the nation's commemoration by laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery. During a solemn visit to the resting ground for many military casualties, Obama noted in remarks to visitors:

"But even as we turn the page on a decade of conflict, even as we look forward, let us never forget, as we gather here today, that our nation is still at war."

Several ceremonies were organized across the nation to honor the fallen service men and women in wars.
