Michele Bachmann told the Christian radio program "Understanding the Times," that the end times are coming. Bachmann knows that Judgment Day will be here soon, because Obama is arming terrorists. Here’s Bachmann in her own words:

“President Obama waived a ban on arming terrorists in order to allow weapons to go to the Syrian opposition,” Bachmann said. She then quotes from an article: “Some elements of the Syrian opposition are associated with radical Islamic terror groups, including Al Qaeda.”

She skips over the part about how the Syrian rebels the U.S. is arming only vetted groups not associated with terrorists. That wouldn’t fit with the Michele Bachmann narrative that Obama is evil and may have some literal connection to Satan.

Bachmann continues:

“The United States is willingly, knowingly, intentionally sending arms to terrorists, now what this says to me, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times, which is your ministry, we are to understand where we are in God’s end time history.”

Staying relevant used to be easy for Michele Bachmann. She would say bizarre and generally false things about Obama and the Democrats, the left would mock her and she would raise a lot of money. She ran for president, which went about as well as one would expect, and then barely held on to her seat in Congress. Bachmann is not running for reelection, and less and less of the public feels any need to listen to her.

The upshot is that Michele Bachmann has to say more and more outlandish things to get noticed. In Bachmann’s world, Obama’s policies are so bad, they are a sign of the Biblical end times. That one is going to be hard to top, but Bachmann generally finds a way. She’s built a career on making crazy statements, and now that she no longer has to worry about getting 51% of the votes in her district, whatever restrictions on what Michele Bachmann might say are gone.
