May 19 has been dubbed #NationalSendANudeDay, according to the World Wide Web which is a recognition that, essentially, encourages sexting.
But, one middle school student got himself into some big trouble for doing exactly that.
A 14-year-old from Manhattan’s Simon Baruch Middle School allegedly sent photos of his penis to several girls and then threatened to “expose” them if they didn’t send him some nude pictures of themselves in return, Mic reports.
The unnamed boy was reportedly arrested last week at his school. He faces charges of “promoting a sexual performance by a child, sex abuse, coercion, and obscenity.”
Details within the police report indicate that some of the girls involved were his classmates and he sent the lewd photos to them using the popular social network, Snapchat.
"This is an alarming incident," Toya Holness, the city's Department of Education spokeswoman, reportedly told DNAInfo. "School staff immediately notified authorities and it's being investigated. Nothing is more important than the safety and security of all students and staff, and we are providing ongoing supports to the school."
In addition to sending photos and blackmailing girls to send him pictures, the teen has also been accused of forcing a girl to touch his genitals and masturbating in front of several girls using Facetime.
According to Mic, the boy will be tried as a juvenile in family court for his inappropriate actions.
