The Cast Of ‘Hamilton’ Had An Important Message For Mike Pence

“We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.”

Vice President-elect Mike Pence took a break from his busy schedule and went to see the award-winning “Hamilton: An America Musical” at Richard Rodgers Theater in New York City. However, he could not quite enjoy the hottest show on Broadway because the audience would not stop booing at him.

Then, to top the matter off, the entire cast of the hip-hop musical singled him out and delivered a personalized message during the curtain call.

“Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us here at ‘Hamilton: An American Musical.’ We really do,” said Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays former U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr.

“We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir,” he continued. “But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us. Thank you”

The icy welcome does not come as much of a surprise. After all, Mike Pence strongly opposes LGBTQ rights and wanted to use HIV/AIDS fund money on the notorious conversion therapy. He is also backing President-elect Donald Trump, the man who wants to deport millions of immigrants and is mulling over plans for a Muslim registry.

Whereas, not only is the cast of “Hamilton” one of the most diverse casts in Broadway, the show also stars Javier Muñoz – an openly gay and HIV positive actor – in the lead role of Alexander Hamilton. Moreover, the musical features iconic lines like, “Immigrants, we get the job done” and “History has its eyes on you.”

Hopefully, Mike Pence did learn a lesson or two in tolerance from the performances.

Twitter had a lot to say about this.
