US Politician Busted Over Porn Tab Screenshots

Technology today can be your best friend and worst enemy, as a congressional hopeful just learned the hard way.

Mike Webb is running for Congress in Virginia’s 8th district, but now he has an uphill battle on his hands. In an unfortunate and embarrassing incident, in a post on Facebook elaborating on his new endeavor for Congress, Webb uploaded some rather controversial screenshots that immediately began making rounds on the internet.

The screenshot of a Yahoo web page with Curzon Staffing search results, unfortunately, also included two porn website tabs. The post has since been deleted.

Now it would be wrong to simply assume Webb was actually watching this NSFW material, and to give the politician the benefit of the doubt, the computer could have been infected with malware. A few hours later, he published another post on Facebook, which seems like a clarification of the porn tab screenshot, but well, one can never be sure.

“Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the pornographic world there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash the FEC file application each time that it was loaded on the day of the filing deadline, as well as impact other critical campaign systems,” the now deleted post read.

He also went on to put up another post, further elaborating on the interesting incident.

Keeping all his posts in mind, it seems like the explicit tabs could be an honest mistake, and that the congressional hopeful was really not silly enough to mingle business with pleasure.
